This month is tinged with great sadness following our excellent Almoner Peter Farminer being summoned too early to the Grand Lodge above. For details of his funeral please see last item.

January Meeting

This, as those who attended will confirm, was an excellent ceremony that was much appreciated by Bro Ben. Our Worshipful Master was again in cracking form. It was lovely to see both an excellent presentation of the Working Tools by Bro Ashley Johnson plus a superb rendition of the Charge by the candidate’s proposer, Justin Ford, who is a Fellow Craft.

Forthcoming Events

The next Watercress Club meeting is on Wednesday 8th March and features a magician, Robin Maddy.

Our WM Will & Carol-Ann’s Ladies Night is on Saturday 6th May. Please note this now in what ever form your diary is (personally I rely on a pocket diary – I do not trust electronics!).

We will soon have a date for another lunch at Blacknest Golf Club which Maurice kindly arranges

Next 3 meetings

This month sees the father of Jon Harper as our candidate. There is a strong possibility of another candidate as well so it all looks good for 2017 BUT we still need more suitable candidates.

March will be when Jon Harper is raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. April will be a White Table where we will have a brief meeting and wives/partners/girl friends are invited to join us for the meal when local charities will be presented with cheques for £500. Please note April 26th in your diaries and (where applicable) plan baby sitters now! .

Message from Peter James “On Monday 6th February I attended St Eligius Lodge a London based lodge which meets in Mark Mason’s Hall, St James’s St. I was a guest of W Bro Theo Scott who drove up to London and called at the Chelsea Royal Hospital in order to meet another lodge member and to park his car. The ‘other’ Lodge member turned out to be Trevor Thomson whom many of you will know as he was the Worshipful Master of Woolmer Forest Lodge in (2005/6) who moved into the Royal Hospital some seven years ago. He thoroughly enjoys his life there and as you can see is continuing to practice his Freemasonry through St Eligius lodge. It was great to meet up with him and we enjoyed a long chat about old times. He asked me to send his very good wishes to all the members of 3872 who remember him.”

Peter Farminer’s funeral will take place at 10.45 on Tuesday 28th February at Aldershot Crematorium, Guildford Road, GU12 4BP, followed by refreshments at the Bordon Masonic Centre. All who plan to attend at Bordon are kindly asked to advise Peter James so that he can provide Pat with an estimate for catering purposes

Family flowers only but if desired donations can be made either to the Macmillan Cancer Nurses, Midhurst OR to Cancer Research UK through the funeral director G M LUFF, 84 Lion Lane, Haslemere GU27 1JH. Cheques only please - no cash.

Very best wishes
