Charity Stewards Report March 2017

The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) announced last week that they are making an emergency grant of £100,000 to Plan International to help them provide lifesaving support to the humanitarian crisis in East Africa.
Nearly 1 million people have been affected by drought, disease; conflict etc. and the grant will help provide them with urgent supplies of food, water purification and medical and hygiene kits.

The MCF has been one of the first organisations to respond to the appeal… it’s heartening to see our organisation at the forefront of giving financial help to ease the suffering of those troubled by worldwide disasters.

Details of this and other donations, by the MCF, to Charities in our Province have been circulated, through the Provincial Information Service, by our Secretary.

Next month, we have our annual White Table evening, when we invite our Charities for the year along to receive a donation from our Lodge. Representatives from both Homestart Weywater and our old favourites, Friends Forever, have intimated they will be attending.

Homestart Weywater received their cheque in January as the £500.00 we donated was to be matched by the Four Acres Trust. (They were matching all donations of £500.00 plus until the end of January).

They still wish to come along to offer thanks and give a short presentation on the work they carry out in the local area.
I am also hoping, after discussion at the GP Meeting Friday, that we will have another donation to make.
Please make every effort to attend, invite your families, friends, and neighbours… anyone you think might be interested… let’s make it another wonderful occasion.

The Gift Aid envelopes will again be available for your donations, all monies received going into our Charity Relief Chest. If anybody wishes to make a regular payment, into the Relief Chest, by Direct Debit, please ask me for the relevant form. Payment can be monthly, quarterly or annually to suit you.
